Our pre-k class consists of children ages four to five years old. The curriculum is designed to appropriately prepare students for kindergarten and is taught by a certified teacher with a B.S in early childhood education and Biblical theology. Children will learn all the essential skills for kindergarten such as, letter recognition, letter sounds, beginning phonics, sight words, pre-reading skills, rhyming words, handwriting skills, and problem solving skills . Students will learn to read simple words and sentences and will begin early reading comprehension skills. Students will also be taught a variety of advanced mathematic skills based on the Knox County kindergarten standards. Students will learn Bible verses, stories, and songs. Children will be taught these various skills through hands on experiences, concrete examples, large groups, small groups, and through play. Our curriculum is reviewed and updated yearly based upon Knox County public schools curriculum and standards.
